The Art of Slowing Down: Finding Your Sanctuary
In a world that measures worth by the speed of our output, choosing to move slowly is a quiet act of rebellion.
I’m Myra, and I founded Slow Harvest Yoga because I realized that my most vibrant growth wasn’t happening in the rush to get things done—it was happening in the quiet gaps between the “hustle.”
Creating Your Sanctuary
To “slow the harvest,” you need a container that holds you safely. A sanctuary isn’t just a room; it’s a sensory boundary you draw around yourself to keep the noise at bay.
- The Physical Space: Clear the “noise.” Find a corner that is minimal and unhurried. You don’t need much—perhaps just a single wooden table, a ceramic mug, and your journal.
- The Sensory Tone: Whether it’s the soft touch of a cashmere throw, the firm support of a meditation pillow, or the scent of a single candle, let these high-quality details remind you that you are worth the finest care.
- The Sound: If it helps you settle, let quiet, ambient music play in the background—a soft piano or the sound of distant rain to act as white noise for the soul.
A Practice for the Weekend: The 4-7-8 Breath
If you have five minutes today, give this gift to yourself. Find your quiet space, close your eyes, and begin:
- Inhale through your nose for a count of 4, imagining you are breathing in light.
- Hold that breath for a count of 7, letting that peace settle into your bones.
- Exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of 8, releasing the noise of the week.
The Invitation to Explore
This weekend, I invite you to do what resonates with you. Perhaps it’s a wilderness walk—leaving the technology behind to find the rhythm of your feet on the earth. Perhaps it’s a 5-minute meditation or a page in your journal.
Try something new and see if it’s a fit. There is no rush here. There is only the harvest.
Your Weekend Mantra
“I honor the pace of my soul, not the speed of the world.”
